Simon Heseltine is the Director in charge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) at AOL Inc since February 2011. He is an organic search giant and he has got hands-on experience which helps him to be a perfectionist. In this role, Simon and his team is responsible for organic search and training across all AOL and HPMG properties including Huffington Post, Engadget and Daily Finance. He has also trained the AOL-UK teams on SEO best practices.
In his previous position as Director of Search at a Washington D.C. based agency, Simon was in charge of developing and executing organic search and social media strategies for companies across numerous industries. He also developed and implemented training programs for clients, including a large U.S. media firm, to enable them to take advantage of the best opportunities available to their companies through both social media and organic search.
Simon writes a regular column for SearchEngineWatch.com on a wide array of topics within the marketing trade. He has formerly written for other industry sites, including SearchEngineLand.com (for their in-house marketing column). Simon is a frequent speaker at conferences in the UK & US on topics ranging from SEO to Reputation Management to Social Search.
He is also an SEO teacher at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., as part of Digital Media Management program. Simon has worked in the online marketing industry for over 6 years, with more than 7-1/2 years in the local search industry (including a number of years as a developer). He has experience working with SEO, PPC, Social Media and Reputation Management. Simon has developed online marketing teams, and has been brought in by many companies, to train online marketing teams in the best practices followed by the industry.
Simon has a BA (Hons) from the University of Humberside, and a Masters in IT from Virginia Tech.
